Enrolled more than 2000 RSP for the year, Jointly participated with The Hindu and Bharat Petroleum to identify 100 Responsible Road Users who were then awarded prizes.

Conducted Seminar for Auto Rickshaw Drivers on safe driving practices. Conducted Traffic Awareness Program for 800 students in SNS College of Engineering.

January 2010

Conducted the most popular Friendly Five Road Safety Competitions for the second time for students and RSP in Nirmala College for Women on the 9th of Jan 2010. 865 students from 33 schools participated.

Trained and commissioned the First RSP in college in Coimbatore city.
Smt. N. Kamini IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Crime & Traffic inaugurated the unit at Nirmala College for women on the 9th of Jan 2010.

February 2010

Conducted for the second time an inter district level Friendly Five Road Safety Competitions for college students at CIT college auditorium on the 20th of Feb 2010. 1400 students from 58 colleges participated. Road Safety Patrol units of Nirmala college for women, PSGR college for women, Coimbatore Institute of Technology conducted all competitions for the participants.

March 2010

Conducted traffic and road safety training programs for city college RSP students at PSG College of Technology. Dr. C. Sylendra Babu IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city inaugurated the program and delivered a scintillating speech to the RSP, highlighting the need for road safety and interpersonal leader ship qualities, 400 RSP students from PSG college of Technology, PSG Polytechnic College, PSG Institute of Management, PSGR Kirishnammal college for Women, Nirmala college for Women, CIT polytechnic college, and Coimbatore Institute of technology and students from PSG Arts college participated.

Dr.C.Sylendra Babu IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city launched the drive for recruitment of traffic wardens for Coimbatore city.

April 2010

New groups inducted and new additional duty days introduced (Thu to Sat) at all points of duty. Traffic Wardens started functioning from Wednesday to Saturday in four locations. 77% attendance recorded for the month.

June 2010

61 Traffic Wardens participated full fledged in traffic duty during the World Classical Tamil Conference. Each Traffic Warden did traffic duty minimum 6 hours to 123 hours five consecutive days recording a maximum attendance of 92%. New duty location identified – Moor Market Jn at Ganapathy.

July 2010

Dr.C.Sylendra Babu IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city dedicated to the Traffic Wardens Organisation and flagged off the Road Safety Awareness Van in presence of RSP of Coimbatore city. New RSP enrollment began for the year and enrolled 4254 RSP students from schools and colleges. Road safety Awareness van was utilized by more than 10,000 public and 2000 school children. Participated in traffic duty during CM’s and Former CM’s meeting.



 

August 2010

30 Traffic Wardens, 60 RSP students from Colleges and school participated in the Independence Day Parade. 20,055 public and 5808 students benefitted by the newly introduced publicity van in the last one and half month.

September 2010

Conducted Road Safety Competitions involving RSP in a ROTARY event - Youth Expo. Initiated a new batch of young RSP from 3rd to 5th standard in KSIRS School. A total of 5219 RSP has been so far enrolled for the year and 2294 of them already trained. RSP is now functioning in 22 schools in city and they look after congestion in school gate during school open and close time.

October 2010

52 traffic wardens attended special bus stand duty for three days. Organised 1507 RSP students from colleges and school to tribute Dr. Abdul Kalam for Lead India 2020 Organisation. 57 Traffic Wardens and 82 RSP students participated in Diwali traffic duty.
On a special drive enrolled 1600 students for RSP from city corporation schools.


December 2010

Ananda Salai Vibathilla Covai, The world's Largest Road Safety Campaign - successfully conducted at the VOC Park Grounds Coimbatore on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of December 2010. A total of 54 pavilions were installed detailing various road rules. Special pavilions arranged with - RTO - Driving Institute - 108 First Aid - Eye Screening - Insurance - Hospitals - Postal department - Book stall. 49 Traffic Wardens along with 4350 RSP students conducted the campaign. 68,951 students from school, 28,300 students from colleges and 4,300 public totaling 1,01,551 people attended the campaign. 19,102 students participated in 21 District Level Road Safety Competitions. 3800 Road Safety Champ Awards were distributed to all winners of "On Spot Competitions". 22 School Pupil Leaders were invited & honored. 40 State Level Achievers were recognised and awarded. All participants made a promise towards an accident free Coimbatore. (More Photos)

January 2011

Conducted mass recruitment drive for new traffic wardens. 53 Traffic Wardens participated in New Year traffic duty. Actively participated with city police on Road Safety Week Celebrations Conducted road safety awareness campaign for 600 students and 200 Air Warriors in Airforce Admin College. Conducted a 2 KM Rally with 1580 RSP students from city schools. Jointly participated with “The Hindu” on traffic awareness campaign. 62 RSP students from city school and colleges participated in the Republic Day Parade. Jointly conducted along with “The Hindu” Helmet Awareness Campaign. One Traffic Warden KV Vinayaga Murthy received appreciation from Commissioner of Police for good work (he handed over Rs. 26,600/- rupees cash he found near Peelamedu)

March 2011

35 Traffic Wardens and 65 RSP students from CIT polytechnic college participated in the Koniamman car festival, traffic and bundobust duty. Conducted Road Safety Patrol Valedictory function for city RSP students at Nirmala College for Women. 1089 RSP students participated along with 42 teachers from 32 schools and 4 colleges. Respected Commissioner of Police issued 8942 certificates to RSP students and RSP teachers for various RSP activities of the year. All the participating 1089 RSP students and teachers took a pledge for an accident free Coimbatore. All schools assured greater involvement next year. 2010 -2011 was one of the most interesting and most active RSP Year in the history of the Coimbatore city Traffic Wardens Organisation. The RSP unit in Coimbatore was not functional for many years and with much effort it was restarted in the year 2008. The strength which was 591 two years ago has grown to 7020 today of which 4130 has been fully trained. This achievement was made purely on your motivation and guidance and we thank you sir for making this happen.


Report on RSP activity for the year 2010 – 2011

RSP strength has grown from 591 in the year 2008 to 7020 for the year 2011. The new team of Senior RSP students from colleges formed last year with just 41 students has grown to 979. Total number of schools covered, were 79 this year in comparison to 44 last year. RSP’s from 39 schools in city are currently functioning and the students perform duty in front of their schools. RSP students conducted road safety quiz for 24,320 students of various schools and colleges in city with the help of propaganda van. They conducted Road Safety Competitions for more than 1000 young Rotarians during youth expo in the month of November 2010. A total of 62 RSP students from Thyagi NGR Higher Secondary school and Krishnammal College for Women participated in Independence Day parade.


First time in India the Traffic Wardens under your supreme guidance initiated a trial unit of Junior RSP students from 3rd to 5th standard in KSIRS School and PSGRR Krishnammal Nursery and Primary School. Both are functioning successfully. 1507 RSP students participated in the Lead India program to tribute Dr. Abdul Kalam by forming our nations map. 82 RSP students from CIT Polytechnic College along with Traffic Wardens participated in Diwali Special Traffic duty. 4350 RSP students from city schools and colleges educated 1,01,551 people on road safety during the “Ananda Salai Vibathilla Covai” the world’s largest road safety campaign. 40 RSP students from Air Force school and 60 RSP students from CIT Polytechnic College conducted Friendly Five Road Safety Competitions for 200 fighter pilots and their families and for the 600 students of Air Force School during the Road Safety Week celebrations January 2011.

1580 RSP students participated in RSP rally during Road Safety Week awareness activity in January 2011. A total of 62 RSP students from Thyagi NGR Higher Secondary school and PSGRR Krishnammal College for Women participated in Republic Day parades. 65 students from CIT Polytechnic College participated in traffic and bundobust duty during Koniamman car festival yesterday. Sir, I am really proud to announce that, Coimbatore city RSP unit is the best in the entire state of Tamilnadu in terms of training induced as no RSP student in the entire state has been exposed to so much of traffic awareness activity as in Coimbatore. Sir, with that note, and with heart felt satisfaction we conclude our RSP activity for the academic year. We will strive yet harder next year to work towards an accident free Coimbatore.

April 2011

45 Traffic Wardens and 32 RSP teachers participated in the Lead India program to pay homage to Tsunami victims of Japan. Successfully completed 144 pages booklet of Ananda Salai – Vibathilla Covai, ready to be released. This book will be a useful hand book and reference guide for anybody who wants to do road safety campaign or activity.




May 2011

55 Traffic Wardens attended traffic duty during elections. Duty was scheduled for every day evening for 10 days prior to elections. Last two days traffic wardens attended full day duty in 32 junctions.






June 2011

33 Traffic Wardens attended two days special traffic duty at Ooty Flower Show. Special committee formed to enroll and train a minimum of 15,000 RSP students this academic year and they were commissioned as Traffic Warden Coordinators for schools and colleges.





July 2011

A review of the Traffic Wardens was conducted and the following figures were presented to the Commissioner of Police Thiru Amaresh Pujari IPS and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime & Traffic. Strength of Traffic Wardens in Coimbatore city reported at 57, strength of Road Safety Patrol Students from Schools enrolled 6,041 from 59 schools and trained 2,520. Strength of Road Safety Patrol Students from Colleges enrolled 979 from 19 colleges and trained 675.

Conducted Traffic Wardens Enrolment drive and collected applications from 36 personals, who has shown interest to join the organisation. Conducted awareness classes for 350 students of first year students of PSG Poly Technic College. Conducted awareness camp for Lions club of Brave queens for possible joint programs on road safety. Conducted awareness campaign to 102 drivers of Cognizant Technologies.

August 2011

33 Traffic Wardens along with 30 RSP students from Krishnammal College for Women and 30 RSP students from Suguna RIP school participated in the Independence Day parade. “My Personal Road Safety Guide” book meant for the RSP students was released by the Commissioner of Police Thiru Amaresh Pujari IPS. “Traffic Wardens to Class Room” program was inaugurated and the Chief Traffic Warden Thiru A. Mahesh presented the first class on road rules to the students of Avila Matriculation Matriculation School. CEO Mrs. Anandhi and Inspector of Matriculation Schools Thiru Gunasekar deliberated on the necessity of RSP in all school and assured all schools of Coimbatore city will have the RSP units this academic year. Commissioner of Police Thiru Amaresh Pujari IPS initiated the Traffic Wardens “Mini Traffic Park in schools” theme. Conducted road safety awareness class for 1258 students from RVS Arts, Engineering and Polytechnic Colleges and initiated RSP units in RVS institutions with 186 RSP students. Conducted Traffic Rules classes for 138 RSP teachers from school and colleges, Assistant Commissioner Traffic East Thiru Chellam deliberated on the necessity of RSP in schools. Made an Independence Day presentation on Road Safety, at Gopal Naidu Hr Sec School. RSP Coordinator Traffic Warden Leonard Bernardin made a presentation to 230 principals of district matriculation schools on RSP. On our request CEO and Inspector of Matriculation Schools directed all schools to initiate RSP units and have also asked for a report on implementation.

September 2011

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sri T. Senthil Kumar IPS inaugurated RSP units in Corporation schools, 500 students from 5 schools took pledge for road safety and 24 schools benefited from this program. On special request 300 RSP students were enrolled and trained in Park institutions. 137 RSP students of the Kumaraguru College of Technology were trained and they conducted an innovative “I can be Responsible Road User” road safety awareness program for 1017 students form 7 city colleges. This was a joint program with Young Indians of CII Coimbatore chapter. Conducted an awareness campaign to 110 members of Codissia.

November 2011

Conducted Traffic Awareness campaign to 1000 family member of Codissia Conducted awareness campaign for 50 NSS students of Devanga Hr Sec school.

A book titled Ananda Salai – Vibathilla Covai, the World Largest Road Safety Campaign was released by Dr. Abdul Kalam in a function where 7200 RSP students participated. Documentation: The book has been carefully documented as a 138 pages book, so that this will be helpful, for anybody attempting a road safety campaign in future. This is primarily to share knowledge and to help likeminded road safety propagating volunteers and agencies to formulate, “result oriented programs”. This book is being kept in all city schools, colleges and public libraries.

The book covers in detail, The determined contribution of the 4350 Road Safety Patrol students (RSP), who educated 1,01,551 people, who attended the campaign. 54 pavilions detailing one rules each. 782 road rules presented with visuals. 21 scientifically designed "Innovative - On Spot Road Safety Competitions" Details on special pavilions arranged with - RTO - Driving Institutes - Insurance - First Aid and Trauma care. Participation of a total of 19,102 students, in District Level Road Safety Competitions. Presentation of Road Safety Champ Awards to 3800 winners. The book also covers, how the Traffic Wardens and RSP students encouraged all the 1,01,551 participants, to make a promise towards an accident free Coimbatore.

December 2011

Conducted road safety program for 100 NSS coordinators of Bharathiar University. Made a LIVE program on All India Radio, Chennai on Road Safety. 54 Traffic Wardens participated in the New Year traffic duty from 9.00 PM 1.00 AM. 500 Rose flowers were presented to responsible road users who followed road rules at midnight.

January 2012

RSP students from Park Institutions and Nirmala College were trained and they conducted Friendly Five Road Safety Competitions for 300 students of Air Force School, 200 Airforce Warriors, 300 students from Airforce KV school and 100 of their families on a two day program at Airforce Administrative College. Commisioner of Police Thiru TP Sundaramoorthy IPS flagged of a “Road Safety Patrol Rally” in Coimbatore towards Road Safety Week celebrations. 3204 RSP students from 57 institutions participated and took a road safety pledge. Thiru T Senthil Kumar IPS Dy. Commissioner of police, Crime & Traffic made deliberations to the students. JAYA TV telecasted a 45 minute interview with Chief Traffic Warden Thiru A. Mahesh on the 18th of Jan 2012. As of January 15th the RSP strength in city schools and colleges was 10,041 enrolled and 7355 trained from 101 schools and 14 colleges.

30 Traffic Wardens along with 31 students from Jayendra Saraswathi Higher Secondary School and 31 students Nirmala College for Women participated in the 63rd Republic Day parade.
